Thanks to the representative from Bloomberg Intelligence for sharing the Bloomberg Fintech research with our students during our visit to Bloomberg in Central. Our students got great overview of various Fintech developments, ranging from internet banks and virtual banks to digital payments in Asia (including Japan) from the sharing. Thanks to Mr Michael Yang, Head of digital product and technology of Asiamiles, for sharing the blockchain applications in general and the application in Asiamiles. With the development of technology, it is much easier for members to accumulate asiamiles from different occasions and spend them before the miles expire.
Thanks to Ms Jacqueline Chan, Chief Financial Officer of Development Bank of Singapore (DBS) for walking through the digitalization journey of DBS with our students during the Fintech class. Students were amazed by the changes banking industry has gone through.
Thanks to Mr Kenneth Chau (Chief Technology Officer of Welab), Mr Emil Chan (Chairman of FinTech Committee of Smart City Consortium) and Mr Gilbert Tse (Senior Advisor and ex-CEO of iMaobo.net) to share their thoughts on virtual banking as well as regulatory issues in relation to digitalisation with our students. Our students were excited and a lot of their questions were addressed in a relaxed setting.
Thanks to Jonathan Cheung, Director of Open Banking & API, Standard Chartered Bank to share the global landscape and use-cases on Open Banking during the FinTech course. Students were excited about the latest development of the banking industry and delighted to have the insightful exchange of ideas with the industry expert.
Eight speakers have been invited to share their experiences in the Financial Technology course. Thanks to Mr Sammy Kam, Technical Director of Octopus Cards Limited for kick starting the series and our visiting lecturer Dr Dorothy Chau, Director of Tencent, for making this happened. Students enjoyed visualizing the applications of theories taught directly from the industry experts and they are delighted to have more speakers coming in the subsequent lessons.
Chaired by Prof. Aristotelis Stouraitis, Head of Finance and Decision Sciences Department, a sharing session on “How Fintech transform Career?” was held during the Orientation of MSc in Finance (FinTech & Financial Analystics) Programme on 28 August 2019.
