Bitcoin: An investment and reserve currency?

Business Practices surrounding Privacy

According to a student, “the ever-changing landscape that is privacy of personal data needs not only powerpoints and readings to completely understand all facets. Having a discussion with Hong Kong’s Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data is where we were able to hear from the source the importance of business practices surrounding privacy.

Cybersecurity under evolving new policies

“Mr. Yuen's presentation helped us understand how companies as large as Microsoft handle their cyber security and how it continues to evolve with new policies. It was also interesting to hear how a large international company operates while navigating through several different country’s privacy policies.

“Adrian's sharing on tokenization is consistent and up to date with the latest developments in the blockchain space. The real-life applications presented helped showcase the different practical facets which leverages the technology to its fullest potential. China’s Fintech Rides on New-Gen Tech as Cashless Economy Slows

Thanks to the representative from Bloomberg Intelligence to share with our students their latest research on the Chinese Fintech market. A great review of the New-Gen Techs and the development of China into a Cashless Economy. New trends such as online wealth and a brief analysis on Ant Financials (who is going public soon) were also discussed. Our students benefit a lot from the sharing.

Great to have Prof. Emil Chan with the Fintech class this week! Emil shared with the class changes in the form of payment and the rise of central bank digital currency. What are the opportunities and challenges presented by implementing digital currencies? Are we ready for the change?

Welcome Charleston to be the first industry speaker for the Fintech class.Charleston shared with the class on the topic of “Fin-Tech or Tech-Fin”. How will traditional financial firms compete with Tech-Fin innovations? How could Fin-Tech leverage the competence of traditional financial firms? How to move from digitization to digital transformations? Lots of stories of technology innovation and how COVID-19 is changing the innovation landscape have been discussed too!
