MScFin (FTFA) graduate and business students made full ‘Star in the Making’ list in IFTA FinTech Achievement Awards
Graduate from MScFin (FTFA) programme and two students from the HKBU School of Business have been named ‘Star in the Making’ award at the IFTA FinTech and Innovator Awards 2021/2022. The Award presentation ceremony will be conducted in September 2022.
The ‘Star in the Making’ award recognises students for innovative projects or ideas that could positively transform the FinTech industry. Mathias AWUNI (MScFTFA, 2021), Kar Yan YEUNG (MScCGC, 2021) and Hejian MA (BBA in ISEM/FINE, Year 4) were awarded for their respective project that challenges the status quo of different industries. They are the only awardees this year making it to the list.
All three awardees’ projects have one common goal – to solve real-world problems harnessing their innovations and the advancement of technology. Awuni built Coucou Connect to contribute to financial inclusion among low-income earners, empowering them to save and build credit worthiness, which will result in a win-win for both financial service providers and users. Yeung’s project, Project COLLAB, is a powerful all-in-one platform digitising and accelerating listed document production processes that will simplify the traditional financial printing. Ma’s project, Quant Break focuses on FinTech education services, providing interactive solutions for users to learn more about and join the FinTech industry. The students and graduates would like to express their sincere gratitude to MSc Finance (Financial Technology and Financial Analytics) Program for their nomination and sponsorship and Ms Queenie Lee, Lecturer of Department of Finance and Decision Sciences, for her coaching.
Themed “Two Worlds, One Goal: The Virtualisation of Reality” this year, the Awards, now in its fourth year, recognise the important nuances of the parallel physical and virtual worlds, as well as, the role that corporations and individuals play in their development within the economy.
