HKBU School of Business launches new MSc in Finance (FinTech & Financial Analytics) Programme

The HKBU School of Business is launching a new MSc in Finance (FinTech & Financial Analytics) programme, for the 2019 intake. This interdisciplinary programme is designed to help students develop new insights and perspectives towards emerging financial technologies and analytics, and equips them to take the financial industry to the next level.

“Fintech (financial technology) trends like blockchain, cryptocurrency, algo-trading, virtual banks, robo-advisers and the internet of things are no longer just buzzwords, but fundamental technologies that are being used to manage the flow of money and assets. These trends will impact the jobs of the future for sure,” said Dr. Dorothy Chau, Programme Director of the MSc in Finance (FinTech & Financial Analytics). “Students will be empowered with knowledge in Finance, FinTech, Financial Analytics, Machine Learning, Financial Computing, Textual Analysis, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, Algorithmic Trading, Financial Fraud, and Regulatory Compliance. They will be well-prepared for the fast-growing demands of today’s data-driven economy, and will be ready to move into tech-driven roles in the finance industry.”

To ensure students are one step ahead, the programme will also bring together industry leaders to share insider’s views. The programme will offer both one year full-time and two year part-time study-mode options. A global recruitment drive for the programme has begun and the programme is now accepting applications for the September 2019 entry, with an application deadline of 15th June for non-local applicants and 8th August 2019 for local Hong Kong applicants.
